3 Tips for Your Perfect Family Portrait

http://blog.jessegabriel.com/

Family Portrait Tip 1: The Basics
As you begin to plan your family portrait, first think about the image and feeling you want to convey. Your family portrait may be for a holiday greeting card or a yearly mailer to far-flung family members. Or it may be destined to hang on your wall, or in your office at work.

Do you want to convey a fun, lighthearted feeling? A sedate, regal one?

Think about your family members and their personalities, and devise a portrait theme that will allow their individuality to shine. After you’ve chosen a theme or a feeling, the rest of your decisions become easier.

Family Portrait Tip 2: Choosing a Setting
After you’ve decided the feeling you want to convey, it’s time to select the location for your portrait.

An outdoor setting is far more casual than a studio. This may alleviate the stress on you and your family, and the freedom and familiarity of the outdoors will give family members an easier opportunity for their personalities to stand out.

Family Portrait Tip 3: What to Wear
In general, stick with neutral solid colors in simple cuts that are relatively free of details and embellishments. Prints and patterns can be distracting and don’t always photograph well, even if these patterns are attractive in person.

10 Years of Marriage!

We are planning a very important celebration in the beginning of August to bring in our 10th wedding anniversary! Jesse and I met about 15 years ago at high school. Jesse was fairly new to the school when we met through mutual friends. Needless to say we were both instantly smitten with eachother. We both feel so blessed to have found each other at a young age, but with any marriage have felt the trials and tribulations such as the inability to have children, and the loss of parents and friends. That’s why we’ve decided to earmark this event and make it extra special and fun. To celebrate our marriage amongst our dearest friends and family. So cheers to 10 beautiful years of marriage! And to many more returns!

There were lots of wonderfully smelling herbs and flowers at my location session today. I wish there was a scratch & sniff photograph, so I could smell this day over and over again!
